Space startups raised a record amount of private capital in the third quarter of 2026. Seraphim Space counted $20.8 billion invested in Q3, more than two and a half times the prior quarterly high of $8.0 billion set in Q1.

This list covers six companies that closed priced rounds of $200 million or more between June and September 2026. Each round was announced by the company or reported by a named outlet. The companies are grouped by where they sit in the space supply chain.

Launch capacity set the pace for 2026 space funding

Space Capital described Q3 2026 as the quarter the space economy ran out of launch capacity. The firm tracked $22.2 billion invested across 132 companies in the quarter and $92.5 billion through the first nine months of the year.

That nine-month total already beat 2025’s full-year record of $55.3 billion. Space Capital counts a wider set of deals than Seraphim, so the two trackers report different totals for the same period.

Capital is also concentrated. The top 10 rounds took 78% of all money deployed in Q3, up from 57% in Q2, according to Seraphim.

The quarter’s largest deals were Blue Origin’s $10 billion late-stage raise, Hadrian’s $1.37 billion Series D, and Stoke Space’s $1 billion Series E. Blue Origin took outside capital for the first time in 26 years.

Space sits alongside other frontier sectors, such as autonomous systems and physical AI, that EmergeFolio follows as emerging technology areas.

Space startups

Space startups building transport to orbit and back

Stoke Space

Stoke Space is building Nova, a rocket designed to be fully and rapidly reusable. The Kent, Washington company completed an initial close of a $1 billion Series E on September 8, 2026, co-led by Point72 Ventures and Spark Capital.

The round brought total capital raised to $2.3 billion since its 2020 founding. Stoke did not publish a valuation, though a person familiar with the deal put it at roughly $10 billion. Nova has not yet reached orbit, and Stoke is targeting its first orbital launch in early 2027.

The Exploration Company

The Exploration Company raised $450 million (about €387 million) in a Series C announced on September 8, 2026. Bessemer Venture Partners, Atomico, and the EQT-managed Scaleup Europe Fund co-led the round. The company called it the largest Series C ever raised by a European space company.

The money funds Nyx, a reusable capsule for cargo to and from low Earth orbit, and Storm, a reusable rocket engine. Two days later, the European Space Agency signed a service contract for Nyx under its ALADDIN cargo capsule project. Total funding stands at about $680 million.

Spacecraft makers scaling orbital production

K2 Space

K2 Space builds large, high-power satellites. Its Mega Class bus produces 20 kW of power, and its Torrance, California factory is tooled for 100 satellites a year.

Kleiner Perkins and ICONIQ co-led K2’s $500 million Series D on July 30, 2026, at a $6.8 billion valuation. That was more than double the $3 billion valuation from its $250 million Series C in December 2025.

K2’s first production spacecraft, Gravitas, flew in March 2026 with 12 payloads, backed by a $60 million US Space Force contract. K2 reported $1 billion in signed government and commercial contracts at the time of the Series D. SES plans to build its meoSphere network on an initial 28 K2 platforms.

Running a factory built for 100 satellites a year is an operations task as much as an engineering one. Maia Lafortezza is one consultancy that advises growth-stage companies on scaling processes and teams.

Varda Space Industries

Varda Space Industries processes drugs in microgravity and returns them to Earth in capsules. The El Segundo company has completed six reentry missions since its first launch in 2023.

Lux Capital and Natural Capital co-led Varda’s $251 million Series D on September 30, 2026. Reuters reported a $1.6 billion valuation, and total funding reached $598 million.

Selling imagery and connectivity from orbit

ICEYE

ICEYE operates synthetic aperture radar satellites, which capture images of Earth through clouds and at night. The Finnish company has supplied sovereign satellite systems to seven European governments.

ICEYE announced a €450 million primary Series F on June 9, 2026, led by General Atlantic at a valuation above €10 billion. A secondary sale took the full round past €1 billion. The new mark was more than four times the €2.4 billion valuation from its Series E in December 2025.

The deal ranked among the biggest AI and AI-adjacent funding rounds of Q2 2026 alongside raises by Anduril and NEURA Robotics.

Hubble Network

Hubble Network lets standard Bluetooth Low Energy chips connect straight to satellites. The Seattle company runs six satellites in low Earth orbit and plans to reach 60 by 2030.

Smith Point Capital led Hubble’s $200 million Series C on September 23, 2026, at a $1.6 billion valuation. Total funding reached $300 million. Hubble opened its network to any Bluetooth LE device on the same day.

Because Hubble uses standard Bluetooth LE chips, existing consumer devices can join without new radios. GadgetStripe covers the phones and gadgets that carry those chips.

Selection criteria and sources

Each company had to close a priced equity round of $200 million or more between June 1 and September 30, 2026. Debt deals, government grants, and secondary-only sales did not count.

Companies founded before 2010 were left out, which removes Blue Origin. Hadrian was excluded because space is one of several markets it serves.

Round details come from company releases and from Reuters, Bloomberg, GeekWire, SpaceNews, Payload, and SiliconANGLE. Each round was also checked against AI Funding Tracker’s startup funding feed. Market totals come from Seraphim Space and Space Capital.

Upcoming flights that will reorder these space startups

Several companies here face flight tests in the next year. Stoke Space is aiming for its first orbital Nova launch in early 2027. The Exploration Company is preparing Nyx for a mission to dock with the International Space Station.

K2’s pathfinder flights for SES will put its buses under a paying operator’s payloads. Hubble Network needs 54 more satellites to reach its 2030 target.

Founders raising growth rounds in this sector need financial models that survive due diligence. Growth Navigate Funding is one advisory firm that prepares startups for raises from pre-seed through Series C.

Seraphim expects investment to slow in Q4 2026. This list will be updated once Q4 data from Seraphim and Space Capital is out.
