AI startups announced about $2.6 billion in primary funding rounds above $20 million between September 28 and October 5, 2026. The total came from 10 deals, and Instinct’s $1 billion Series C made up 38% of it.
The largest transaction of the week was an acquisition. AMD agreed to buy Fei-Fei Li’s World Labs for about $8.2 billion in stock.
All 10 primary rounds went to US-headquartered companies. Europe’s two notable items were not new startup rounds: ElevenLabs employees sold $300 million of existing shares at a $22 billion valuation, and London-based DIG Ventures closed a $120 million fund to invest in early-stage AI infrastructure startups.
No AI deal above $20 million was confirmed in India, China, the Middle East, Latin America or Africa during the window.

Instinct and EliseAI set the pace for AI application funding
Instinct raised its $1 billion Series C 33 days after a $250 million Series B at a $2.5 billion valuation, according to Tech Funding News. The company has not published revenue or user figures.
The round places Instinct among the most valuable AI agent startups by funding and valuation. Its product runs on text and phone, with no mobile app yet.
EliseAI reported $200 million in annual recurring revenue as of June 2026. Its $4 billion valuation nearly doubles the $2.2 billion set at its Series E in August 2025.
Secondary sales and cybersecurity rounds
The ElevenLabs deal was an employee tender, so proceeds went to selling shareholders rather than the company. The $22 billion price doubles the valuation from its $500 million Series D in February.
Armadin’s $255.5 million Series B valued the year-old cybersecurity company at more than $2.5 billion. Andreessen Horowitz co-led the round, its second lead in this digest after EliseAI.
AI infrastructure funding: compute, chips and optics
Five of the 10 rounds went to infrastructure below the model layer. Together they raised $637 million.
GMI Cloud said its contracted annual recurring revenue passed $600 million. CScale and Volantis both use optical links, one between racks and one between compute and memory.
SiMa.ai’s valuation rose from $960 million after its July 2025 Series B to $1.45 billion, The Next Web reported, citing PitchBook data. Clockwork.io’s latest round brings its total funding to $73 million.
AI startup funding by sector this week
The chart groups the 10 primary rounds by sector. The ElevenLabs secondary is excluded because no new capital went to the company.
