AI startups announced about $2.39 billion in primary funding across 14 rounds of $20 million or more between October 6 and October 12, 2026. TypeSafe AI’s $870 million Series A was the largest round, at about 36% of the total.
The largest disclosed AI acquisition was far smaller. Mexican financial group Kapital bought Woz Code, a US startup that makes a cost-cutting plugin for Claude Code, for $30 million.
North American companies raised $1.78 billion across nine rounds, or 74% of the total. Singapore-based Manus made up the whole Asia-Pacific share with more than $500 million, and four European startups raised $111 million.
Two deals need a plain-language note. Healthleap and Melius each announced a seed round and a Series A together, and the table shows the combined sum. No AI venture fund (money a VC firm raises from its own backers to invest later) closed above $20 million this week, and no employee share sale qualified.

AI model and agent developers took most of the money
TypeSafe AI came out of stealth on September 15 with a $40 million seed round led by DCVC, at a post-money valuation of about $200 million. Its Series A arrived less than a month later at $7.5 billion.
The company says about one-third of Fortune 500 firms use Jev and that the model passed one million users within days. TypeSafe has not named those customers, so the figures remain company claims.
Manus closed its first round since Chinese regulators forced Meta to unwind its $2 billion acquisition. The company did not give a valuation, though it was reported in September to be seeking $500 million at $4 billion. Our ownership history of Manus AI covers the buyback that followed the Meta deal.
Nous Research reached about $36 million in annualized revenue by mid-September, according to the Wall Street Journal, and expects to pass $100 million by year-end. The round brings its total funding to about $158 million.
AI evaluation, engineering simulation and new hardware
Arena raised its Series A of $150 million in January at a $1.7 billion valuation, when annualized revenue was $30 million. The company said in June that its run rate had reached $100 million.
Vinci, a 70-person company, told Reuters it will spend the money on computing, hiring and new simulation products. It started with thermal simulation for chips and plans to add vibration and electromagnetics.
Sabi came out of stealth in April. Its first device is a beanie, with a cap version to follow, and the company has not published peer-reviewed accuracy data.
AI applications in insurance, finance and marketing
Ledgebrook’s round brings its total funding to about $315 million, per Crunchbase data. Allianz Re also agreed to a multi-year reinsurance deal with the Boston company.
Stuut raised its Series B 10 months after its Series A, taking total funding to $93 million. Melius said it passed $1 million in annualized revenue within two months of leaving stealth in July.
Healthcare and life sciences AI
Healthleap grew from three hospital partners to more than 50 over the past year, and its revenue rose more than tenfold, the company told TechCrunch. Customers include Penn Medicine and Cedars-Sinai.
Vocca grew from 2,000 to 15,000 medical practitioners in a year. Rivercell, founded in 2025 by Cardiologs co-founder Yann Fleureau, will use its seed money to expand its Paris wet lab.
WhiteLab Genomics has raised about $37 million in total. It tests its AI-designed delivery vehicles in lab and animal studies, and those results are still preclinical.
AI cybersecurity funding
Hadrian’s round brings its total funding to $65 million. The Amsterdam company raised a €10.5 million seed round led by HV Capital in 2022.
AI funds and acquisitions this week
One AI acquisition with a disclosed price met the $20 million threshold. No AI-focused venture fund close above $20 million was confirmed in the window.
| Company | What it does | Round | Amount | Valuation | Lead and notable investors | HQ | Region |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Woz Code | Maker of WOZCODE, a plugin that the company says cuts Claude Code usage costs by 25% to 55% | Acquisition | US$30M | Not disclosed | Acquirer: Kapital (Mexico) | United States | North America |
Kapital also closed $130 million in combined equity and debt at a $2 billion valuation. The company did not split the two amounts, and the round is not counted here because Kapital is a licensed financial group rather than an AI startup.
AI funding outside the US: regional activity
Europe had four qualifying AI rounds worth $111 million. Three went to Paris-based companies: WhiteLab Genomics, Rivercell and Vocca.
In Asia-Pacific, Manus was the one qualifying deal found. No China-based AI round of $20 million or more with a confirmed announcement date surfaced in the window.
Indian startups raised $122.9 million across 25 deals from October 5 to 9, according to Inc42. The largest AI deal was Desible.ai’s $3.3 million seed, so India had no qualifying AI round.
Latin American startups raised $224.5 million in week 41, Techloy reported, led by Kapital. The other large deals, Asaas and Reuse, were in fintech and refurbished electronics.
Wamda’s coverage of the Middle East showed no AI round of $20 million or more in the window. No weekly African funding roundup for these dates had been published, and searches of African tech outlets found no qualifying AI deal.
For the prior seven days, see last week’s digest on AMD’s World Labs deal, which tracked $2.6 billion across 10 rounds.
